Aspiration is structured around two interwoven spatial and temporal environments: a primitive, utopian landscape and a contemporary urban setting. Rather than functioning as parallel narratives, these two worlds operate as mutually reflective states, gradually echoing each other through gesture, rhythm and affect.
The work examines life and death not as opposing endpoints, but as recurring conditions within a continuous system. Time in the film does not progress linearly; instead, it loops, compresses and returns. Characters appear, repeat actions, and dissolve, suggesting that existence is shaped less by development than by recurrence and impermanence.
Drawing from continental philosophy and Buddhist conceptions of cyclical time, Aspiration approaches impermanence as a structural condition rather than a symbolic theme. Meaning is generated through duration, repetition and breath, allowing thought to emerge from temporal experience instead of narrative resolution.
In this way, the film asks how a subject might inhabit each moment fully when continuity, permanence and progress can no longer be assumed.
